Welcome to Year 1 

Our curriculum consists of English, maths, science and the foundation subjects. We continue with the Little Wandle phonics programme to develop our reading before the statutory phonics check at the end of the year. The children in Year 1 work with Year 2 in our Key Stage One Unit (The Pod) where they have access to dedicated outdoor space, separate focused teaching areas and a space for continuous and enhanced provision. To support your child, please read with them regularly at home, we recommend at least five times a week.  In Year 1, your child is entitled to a free fruit snack at break time and a free school meal.
